Each question is worth 5 points.

1.     By right-clicking on a drive and then choosing Properties, you can easily determine what file system the drive has.  Do so on each of your drives,
and record the information here.  List the maximum size each of the partitions could be based on the file system (pretend your hard drive is
infinitely large at the moment). 

 

2.     What would the maximum partition size be if your file system on your drive is NTFS?  What would the maximum partition size be for a FAT16 file system? 
What about FAT32?

3.     In Windows XP, open up the Windows folder and choose to View the listing by Details.  Record the types of information listed.

4.     In Windows 7, open up the Windows folder and choose to View the listing by Details.  Record the types of information listed.  How many viewing options are available in Windows 7?  What are they?  Record the types of information listed for the Content view.

5.     By default, Windows XP and Windows 7 do not show the extension of files by default, which can be frustrating for the technician.  Determine how to
enable the viewing of the file extensions, and then enable this viewing on your PC.  Record the steps you took to enable this option for both Windows XP
and Windows 7.


   

6.     Assume you have a 2 GB partition that has a FAT16 file system.  You save an 8KB file.  What is the wasted space called?  How much space will this file
take up on the hard drive?  How much wasted space will there be from this file?
